Action on Bedmond speeding backed12.00.00am GMT Fri 2nd Mar 2007
Liberal Democrat councillor Richard Laval has again sought to find a solution to speeding traffic through the villages of Bedmond and Pimlico. The speed limits along Church Hill and Bedmond Road vary between 30 and 40 mph, but recorded speeds are much higher here, with many motorists believing that the road is derestricted. The County Council have continued to refuse to install safety measures in the road to slow traffic. Now Richard has asked if vehicle activated speed signs could be installed. These signs, which flash 'Slow down' or a reminder of the speed limit, have proved successful elsewhere on local roads, with signs having recently been placed in Woodside Road and Horseshoe Lane. Richard said, "These signs could be a valuable quick and cheap measure to remind drivers of the speed limit along this stretch of road. However, I shall continue to press the council to act here before there is a fatal accident".
