SGM at Woodside Road fingerpost

Thanks to Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst this sign has been returned to its former glory

The traditional 1930s fingerpost sign standing at the corner of Horseshoe Lane and Woodside Road has been refurbished after action from Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst. Stephen took up the issue last year, after noticing that the sign was looking a bit of a mess. He established that there was national guidance for their upkeep and persuaded highways officers to have the sign repaired and repainted.

The timber used is Douglas Fir which was the material used when sign was first erected over 70 years ago. Traditional lettering was also used. Now the sign should last for another 70 years as a real asset to the area. The LibDem team are pressing for similar signs in Gallows Hill to be repaired.
