Cllr Paul Goggins' hard work will mean a new pedestrian crossing here in Hazelwood Lane

Many years of work from County Councillor Paul Goggins have paid off, after a pedestrian crossing for Hazelwood Lane was agreed.

Detailed survey work is now being carried out. The crossing will be in line with 42 Hazelwood Lane - sites nearer the school had to be discounted as they were too near the bend to be safe.

The crossing is being paid for with money from the School Mead redevelopment. Originally the Conservative-run County Council said that there was no need for a crossing here and intended to spend the money in Watford or Kings Langley. However after persistence from Paul and other LibDem councillors, the crossing in Hazelwood Lane will go ahead.

Paul said "I am delighted that this crossing will be installed. It will be useful for children crossing for schools, those walking to the bus stop and those who will use the new shops at School Mead".
