The traditional 'fingerpost signs' in Gallows Hill are to be repaired, thanks to LibDem councillors.

Despite government guidance, the Conservative-run County Council had said that it would not pay for the signs, despite being responsible for highways. However Three Rivers have agreed to contribute towards the costs and the work will go ahead.

Parish Councillor and local historian Peter Sanders, who first brought this issue to the attention of councillors, said, "These signposts are a traditional part of life in villages across the country and should be maintained properly. Hopefully they will now continue to look good for many years".
