The Conservative-run County Council have refused to re-open the youth club in Abbots Langley

Despite pressure from local LibDem councillors, the Conservative-run county council has said that they will not re-open a youth club in the village. The county council say that they will only open one youth club in each District Council area and that the Three Rivers youth club is in South Oxhey!

Cllr Sara Bedford, who is a voluntary youth leader at one of the St. Lawrence Tuesday evening youth clubs, said "The county council have said that they will carry out some 'detached' youth work locally, which means talking to the young people on street corners. But young people need somewhere to go that is safe and secure and where they have access to information".
