New homes for old in Trowley Rise12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 2nd May 2007
The house at 23 Trowley Rise has today been passed to Aldwyck Housing Association. The Association will demolish the old house on the site and build two new three bedroomed family houses for affordable rent to local families. The council will also receive the sum of £50,000, which will be used for further affordable housing in Abbots Langley. Cllr Matthew Bedford said, "The house was left to the Council in the will of the previous owner, to be used for social housing in the area. The house was not in good condition, so by doing this we get two new homes for free and some cash to use elsewhere in the local area to help house families in need".
