Residents' anger at grass cutting mess

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 16th Jul 2007

Cllr Sara Bedford has taken up numerous complaints from Abbots Langley residents regarding the poor or nonexistent grass cutting of our verges and amenity areas.

Yet again, the Conservative-run County Council have allowed the grass to grow too high, then left a mess on roads and pavements when cutting eventually takes place. The leftover grass blocks drains and leaves a slippery mess on pavements.

After Sara sent photos to the County Council, showing the mess left in several local roads, the contractor carrying out the work has been penalised with a fine of £26,000.

Sara said, "The County Council have let us down yet again. This is a simple task, yet they cannot seem to get it right. The County Council's only response to or complaints has been to suggest that residents pay twice for grass cutting to happen".
