Leavesden LibDem councillor Sue Bartrick has launched a petition calling for a pedestrian crossing across College Road near the country park, the shops and the YMCA.

Ward colleague Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, who sits on the Joint Highways Panel, has raised the issue with the Conservative-run County Council, However the County Council have declined to install a crossing, or any other measure to help residents cross.

Cllr Sue Bartrick said, "When we call on local residents near to College Road and the country park, many say that the biggest issue is the speed of traffic on the road and problems of crossing the road safely. That has also been the response from our recent Residents' Survey.

We have regularly told the County Council of these problems but they seem to reluctant to do anything - such as put a proper crossing in. Hence this petition. With residents' help we hope to collect hundreds of signatures and force the county council to listen to local views and act."

Copies of the petition can be found on the latest 'Democrat' newsletter, or call Sue on 01923 893661 or email her at sue.bartrick@threerivers.gov.uk.
