Kick off for Leavesden pavilion

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 10th Oct 2007

A brand new sports pavilion was christened on Sunday in Leavesden. Youth and junior teams at Garston United used the new changing facilities at the pitch for the first time. The pavilion and car park is the site of the former Leavesden Stadium off Woodside Road and forms part of Leavesden Country Park.

Both the site and pavilion are owned by Three Rivers District Council, which provided the £397,000 needed for a new car park, refurbished pitch and the new pavilion which has three separate changing areas and store room. The pavilion has full access for people with disabilities.

Councillor Chris Whately Smith said: "We were very impressed at the high standard of workmanship at the pavilion. It will be a great asset for these local teams to use as changing rooms and were delighted to see it in use."
