Local LibDem Cllr Matthew Bedford has been shocked to discover that the County Council is considering not replacing the speed camera markings near the Jacketts Field junction following the resurfacing of Tibbs Hill Road.

The Conservative-run County Council has recently implemented new guidelines about cameras on curved roads and is using these as a reason not to reinstate the markings.

"I only found out that the County Council may abandon this camera because I was chasing them to replace the markings for this camera", said Matthew. "This camera has done a good job at slowing traffic at what was previously an accident black spot. It would be extremely short-sighted if the County Council allows bureaucracy to come before safety".

The local LibDem team will continue to press the county to retain this camera, which was erected after a campaign from local residents and councillors.
