An application to put a telecomms mast inside a false chimney at the Royal Oak on Kitters Green was refused by Three Rivers' planning committee.

The committee agreed that the mast would adversely affect both the locally listed building and the Conservation Area. Councillors also believed that the phone company had not searched all possible local sites.

Cllr Matthew Bedford, who opposed the site earlier in the year, said "I am glad that common sense has prevailed regarding this proposed mast. The phone companies must make more of an effort to mast share".
