Chris calls for full resurfacing for Hazelwood Lane12.00.00am GMT Tue 11th Dec 2007
Local LibDem councillors have continued to press for a full resurfacing of Hazelwood Lane. County Councillor Paul Goggins had pressed for this well used road to be resurfaced for a number of years and was delighted when his pressure led to the road being placed at the top of the list. However the Conservative run County Council decided just to patch up a few areas, leaving the road full of pot holes and areas of broken tarmac. Even the Conservative leader of the County Council admits, "I am the first to say that some of Hertfordshire's roads and footpaths are not in a fit state". Cllr Chris Whately-Smith (pictured right) said, "The Conservative County Council have left Hazelwood Lane in a real mess. It is dangerous for cyclists and capable of causing damage to cars. It also looks very unsightly. The entire length of the road needs a full resurface now."
