High Street drain still needs action12.00.00am GMT Sat 2nd Feb 2008
Local LibDem councillors continue to press the Conservative-run County Council to take action to stop puddles on the northern side of the High Street. The problem is caused by the grid, near the pedestrian crossing being too high and not taking the surplus rain water. County councillor Paul Goggins said, "A simple job of lowering the grid or cutting a channel in the road would seem, to a layman, to be the answer but the highways officers seem unable to respond".
