Chris presses for action on Hunton Bridge road works

7.01.00am GMT Sat 10th Mar 2007

Cllr Chris Whately-Smith has pressed the County Council to take action on the problems being caused by roadworks outside the Hunton Bridge Wharf development.

The three way traffic lights have phasing problems, which allow equal amounts of time for all three phases, despite differences in traffic flow.

In addition, there is no footpath on the development side of the road, nor is there a safe crossing point. This has proved to be a particular problem for children attending St. Paul's School.

Chris said, "Whilst we understand that the roadworks are necessary, there could have been better planning, to ensure safety for pedestrians and a smoother flow of traffic.
